Shimla, under the British rule in India for over 150 years was the summer capital of the British officers.
Shimla-Kalka railway line turned a 100 years old on November 9. In 1903, the rail line was opened to traffic by Lord Curzon, the then Viceroy of India. The quaint rail track passes through some of the most picturesque spots as it winds it way from Kalka, which lies at the foot of the Shivaliks, to the mighty ridge on which the Queen of the Hills is located.

Day1 - Delhi - Kalka - Shimla (by rail)
Early morning departure from New Delhi railway station to board 2011 Kalka Shatabdi Express at 0740/1200 hrs. Upon arrival in Kalka shift from broad-guage line platform to the narrow-guage line platform to board 255 Himalyan Queen Hill Express toy train departing at 1210 hrs for Shimla
(it is a connecting train for Shatabdi Express).
Enjoy the fascinating, full of scenic ride on this historical Kalka-Shimla line with 106 tunnels and single & double arch bridges.
Arrive Shimla at 1730 hours. Click photos of the old KC 520 steam loco parked on the side of the Shimla Station at display which only runs for Travel Pals’ special charters for our railway enthusiasts groups. Upon arrival, assisted & transferred to hotel. Overnight at hotel.
Day2 - Shimla
After breakfast, enjoy day free for own activities and to stroll on the Shimla Mall - ‘the Heart of Shimla’, the Mall is the main shopping centre and visit Christ Church and St Michael's Cathedral - the second oldest church in northern India was steered by Colonel JT Boileau in 1844, Colonel Dumbleton donated the clock in 1860 to the church and also visit Viceregal Lodge - Magnificent English renaissance structure is with its spacious lawn and wooded groves are India's premier institute of higher studies. Overnight at hotel.
Day3 - Shimla
Breakfast at hotel. Day free for leisure. Overnight at hotel.
Day4 - Shimla - Kalka - Delhi (Rail)
Enjoy a royal breakfast at hotel. Then departure from Simla railway station to board 256 Himalayan Queen at 1030/1605 hrs. Upon arrival Kalka, shift from narrow-guage line platform to the broad-guage line platform to board 2012 Kalka Shatabdi Express at 1730/2145 hrs. On arriving at New Delhi railway station, transfer to onward destination.
